Arduino is a microcontroller development board introduced in 2005 by Massimo Banzi (one of the founder) for electronic hobbyists to build devices, which can interact with environments using sensors and actuators. The major hit was its freeware IDE and inexpensive hardware. So far, there are 16 different Arduino boards available commercially.
